Greetings!!!
We have a concern here in Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines. Our forest are fast disappearing. We already have experienced natural calamities such as flash floods and el nino, which caused tremendous damages to life and properties.
I am the deputy secretary general of Task Force Macajalar (TFM), a coalition of more 100 organizations of farmers, fisherfolks, women, youth, urban poor, etc. TFM's main concerns are the protection of the environment and people empowerment.
On World Food Day, TFM will be commemorating it with a big human barricade against logging in the hinterlands of Cagayan de Oro. There are still two big logging companies that are indiscriminately wiping out the remaining forest with their clear-cutting type of logging.
Our anti-logging activity will be participated in by a 1,000 environmentalists who will be risking their lives by stopping logging trucks through lying in the streets forming a human barricade.
In this regard, we cordially ask for your support through SOLIDARITY MESSAGES on this event. We have experienced it before that a message of support from our environmentalist friends abroad, not only make the morale of the barricaders high but also sending the signal to the unscrupulous loggers that we are not alone in protecting our remaining forest and in our call for a TOTAL LOG BAN IN THE PHILIPPINES!!!
You can send your message through these e-mail address. On Monday morning {Oct. 16) we will conduct media hopping to ask for more support from the residents of the city tp join us. Your message of support can make a difference on this event. Thank you very much.
Environmentally yours,
Agustin B. Zerrudo
Deputy Secretary General
Task Force Macajalar
